Paul Gatewood is running for Missouri House District 10 because he believes St. Joseph families deserve a fighter who understands what it means to serve, both his community and his country. After enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps at just 17 and deploying in support of Operation Desert Storm, Gatewood came home and spent the next 36 years serving the St. Joseph Police Department, most recently as Evidence Unit Manager.
A father of eight and grandfather of nine, Gatewood has spent decades coaching Little League baseball and softball, chairing the Joint Veterans Committee, and serving on the board of the St. Joseph Museums. He says that record of service, not political ambition, is what’s driving his campaign: “I’d like to make things better around Saint Joe.”
Affordability is at the center of Gatewood’s campaign. He’s running to keep St. Joseph and northwest Buchanan County affordable for working families, expanding job and economic opportunity, protecting the rights of blue-collar workers and union members, and pushing back against the rising cost of living that is squeezing household budgets across the district.
